Phillies spring training, ten minutes from the ballpark

BayCare Ballpark, the Phillies' spring training home, is about a 10-minute drive from the house. Bring the whole family, sleep 10, and have a pool and a game room waiting after the game.

Game room with ping-pong table, foosball and bunk bed

When

Phillies spring training runs from late February through late March every year, with the Grapefruit League schedule published in the fall. Weekends and games against the Yankees, Blue Jays and Rays sell out first, so tickets and lodging are best booked by December.

Getting to the game

BayCare Ballpark is at 601 Old Coachman Road, Clearwater, about 4 miles from the house. Driveway parking for 4 cars means a big group can take two vehicles. If you also want to see the Blue Jays, TD Ballpark in Dunedin is about 20 minutes; the Yankees at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa are about 40.

Why families pick this house

Three queen bedrooms plus a game room with a bunk bed and a sofa bed, so grandparents, parents and kids each get their own space. A full kitchen for breakfast before day games, a gas grill for after, and a ping-pong table for the rain delays.

About the pool in March

The pool is screened but not heated. In late February and March the water is usually cool; on warm afternoons it is refreshing, on cool ones it is for looking at. The lanai and the deck are pleasant all season.

Between games

Clearwater Beach is 13 minutes away for an off day. Our Clearwater guide has the restaurants we send guests to, including Rumba Island and Guppy's for a post-game dinner.
